Loctite Brand History From 1963 till today

Super glue was invented in 1942 by Dr. Harry Coover. He was part of a wartime research team developing clear plastics for use in precision gun sights. They unintentionally discovered a chemical compound of extraordinary stickiness, but they initially saw no use for it in their research.

Only later did Coover see the potential in cyanoacrylates as a glue, and it was produced for commercial sale in 1958 by LOCTITE. It quickly became hugely popular as a useful and versatile household adhesive.

Loctite is using 100% recycled aluminium tubes for superglue adhesives.

As of 2024, we are taking one step further and removing all the plastic from the blister packs.

Our new blisters are made from minimum 85% recycled and recyclable paper. With this new cardboard blister, Loctite is contributing to a reduction of 1000 tons* of plastic use per year.

OUR FORMULA

We are using bio-genic carbon in our superglue formula. Our superglues contains minimum 28% bio-genic carbon by still keeping Loctite’s high quality and well-known bonding strength!
